Pirates Declare Chloe Geijer and Trinity Nichols Signed
East Carolina Softball has added transfers Chloe Geijer and Trinity Nichols to its roster for the upcoming 2025 season according to an announcement by fourth-year head coach Shane Winkler on Friday.
Geijer spent her first two seasons at Indiana where she competed in 28 contests for the Hoosiers last season including four starts. The Frankfort, Ill. native hit .227 at the plate while scoring six runs and tallying seven RBI and three home runs. She recorded a career-best four RBI in Indiana’s win over Northwestern (May 4) and had four games with two hits at the plate.
“Chloe has the potential to be an impact player for us,” Winkler said. “She had some big moments offensively in the Big Ten and will develop into a big-time threat in our lineup. She’ll see time initially at third base with the athleticism to move all over the field.”
In 2023, Geijer appeared in 12 games and earned her first start against Purdue Fort Wayne (Mar. 5) while recording two RBI in Indiana’s wins over UNC Greensboro (Feb. 26) and Michigan State (Mar. 5).
Nichols joins the Pirates after competing at Syracuse in her first two collegiate seasons, where she missed the entire 2024 season after making 18 appearances with 14 starts as a freshman in 2023, recording four hits, three runs and an RBI. The Winterville native also garnered a spot on the 2022-23 ACC Academic Honor Roll, and she was named to the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
“I’m excited to bring Trinity back to Greenville,” Winkler said. “She’s going to be able to play all over the infield for us and will be a tough out in the lineup. It’s going to be fun watching her make a big impact for us in her hometown over the next three years.”
Before playing for the Orange, Nichols competed at D.H. Conley where she hit .411 and scored 41 runs to help lead the Vikings to a 4A State Championship during her senior season. She earned First Team All-State Honors as a freshman in 2019.
