The Miami Dolphins must make a decision about Tua Tagovailoa.

If they truly believe he’s their franchise quarterback, then there’s no point in dragging contract talks any further; they must pay him.

If that’s not the case, then they must pivot and find a plan for the future.

HC Mike McDaniel seems to be quite optimistic about that situation.

When asked about it, he stated that talks were ‘very fluid’ and that they would take a ‘day-to-day’ approach with Tagovailoa, also letting the media know how he intends to use his quarterback in practice (via Adam Schefter).

There are arguments to be made about both paying Tua or moving on from him, but time is of the essence here.

The Dolphins have been very supportive of their quarterback through the ups and downs, and while some might have doubts about whether he’s the right guy to lead this team to success, the fact of the matter is that he’s been stellar at running this particular offense.

Whether he’s a superstar or not is not up for debate.

But NFL teams must pay a prime price for franchise-caliber quarterbacks, even mid-tier ones.

Tagovailoa will always come with injury and turnover concerns.
