UNC Football: Tez Walker ruled ineligible for 2023 season

Transfer to Georgia Tech Tyzhaun Claude has made a commitment to play basketball for UNC.

After being cleared to play during the 2024-2025 season by the NCAA on August 1, Georgia Tech transfer Tyzhaun Claude wasted no time figuring out his next move.

While Georgetown was rumored to be heavily involved, it’s the UNC basketball program that ends up winning this recruitment battle.

The Goldsboro, North Carolina native has had quite the college journey up to this point, as he’s been at three different schools thus far. He started his career at Morehead State and, unfortunately, dealt with injuries during his three years on campus.

From there, Claude transferred to Western Carolina where he had a breakout season, averaging 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest. After just one season at Western Carolina, Claude once again transferred and joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, where he averaged 4.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in a role off the bench.

Now, it appears that Claude is the final piece to the 2024-2025 roster, as the Tar Heels have added another forward to beef up its frontcourt depth. Given that the UNC basketball program had an extra roster spot to work with, it made total sense to bring in a player that comes with a ton of experience, especially in ACC play.

It will be interesting to see how Claude fits in, especially after missing summer workouts with the team. While his focus will be on starting classes over the next week or so, it’s safe to say he’ll quickly get into the gym to get acclimated to his new teammates before the season opener on November 4.
