HOUSTON — Lewis Cine, a rookie for the Minnesota Vikings, suffered a “lower-leg fracture” on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. He will remain in London for surgery, according to coach Kevin O’Connell.

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Cine was carted off the field in the first quarter following what O’Connell called a “very tough moment for our team.”

Cine, a Georgia native and the 32nd overall pick in the previous spring’s NFL draft, was hurt while blocking on a punt return.

As he fell, Cine held onto his left leg. While medical staff stabilized Cine’s lower left leg and got him onto a cart so he could leave the field, players from both teams took a knee.

O’Connell stated, “He will be having surgery to fix that here.” “As soon as he’s able to make the transition back to the Twin Cities we’ll do that.”

The staff of Vikings is lodging in London with Cine.

The 22-year-old Cine was born in Haiti and moved with her extended family to Florida when she was 4 years old. Before attending Georgia, as a young man, he lived in Massachusetts and Texas on his way to the NFL.
