Hunter Lawrence Out for 2025 Supercross After Torn Ligaments – A Major Setback for His Season…

Hunter Lawrence, one of the most promising riders in the 2025 Supercross season, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a serious injury during the Tampa Supercross event on February 8, 2025. The Australian rider sustained a torn labrum in his shoulder, along with fractures in his humerus bone, which will require surgery. This injury has put an end to Lawrence’s 2025 Supercross campaign, leaving fans and his team devastated by the sudden turn of events.

Lawrence was racing in the heat race when he crashed, an incident that resulted in the shoulder injury. Despite initial hopes that he could recover quickly and return to the track, further medical examinations revealed the extent of the damage. The tear in his labrum and the fractures in his humerus were more severe than anticipated, making surgery the only viable option.

The surgery is scheduled for February 13, 2025, in Orange County, California. The expected recovery time for this kind of injury is around eight to ten weeks, which means Lawrence will miss out on the rest of the Supercross season. For fans who were hoping to see him compete for the title, this news comes as a massive disappointment.

Hunter Lawrence, who had been showing promise in the 250SX class, was on track to compete at a high level this season. His performance in previous events had built anticipation for his success in the upcoming rounds, but now, the team and fans must come to terms with his absence.

Honda HRC Progressive, Lawrence’s team, will continue its efforts in the 2025 Supercross series with an adjusted roster. The team’s other riders, Chance Hymas and Jo Shimoda, will continue competing, with Hymas focusing on the 250SX East division and Shimoda resuming in the 250SX West division. However, Lawrence’s absence will undoubtedly leave a gap in the team’s lineup.

In a statement following the injury, Lawrence expressed his determination to recover and return to competition stronger than before. “I’m going to get this fixed and come back 100%. I’ll be ready to battle for the outdoor and SMX titles,” Lawrence said, showing his commitment to recovery and resilience in the face of adversity. He also thanked his sponsors and supporters, expressing his gratitude for their continued backing during this tough time.

The injury is a major blow not only to Lawrence personally but also to his team and the Supercross community. Fans had been looking forward to seeing him compete for the championship, and now they will have to wait for his return. His brother, Jett Lawrence, who had also been a title contender, is also recovering from a serious injury after tearing his ACL in a crash at the Glendale Supercross event on February 1, 2025. Jett is expected to be out for four months, effectively ending his 2025 Supercross season as well.

As Honda HRC Progressive navigates the remainder of the season without two of its top riders, all eyes will be on their recovery and future performances. Despite the setbacks, the Lawrence brothers’ determination and skill mean they will likely come back stronger, with fans eagerly awaiting their return to action.

In the meantime, the motocross world sends its best wishes to Hunter Lawrence for a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing him back on the track in the near future.
