An Open Letter from Lewis Hamilton to Fernando Alonso, Fans, and the Entire Formula One Community…

As I reflect on my career and the incredible journey I’ve had in Formula One, I feel it’s only fitting to take a moment to write this letter, not only to you but to the entire Formula One community. Formula One has given me so much, and in that process, I’ve had the honor of sharing the track with some of the most talented and passionate drivers in the world—none more so than you, Fernando.

 

First and foremost, I want to express my respect and admiration for you. From the very beginning of my F1 career, I’ve known you as one of the fiercest and most skilled competitors in the sport. Your racing intelligence, dedication, and ability to extract the maximum from any car you’ve driven have made you a true champion, both on and off the track. We’ve shared many incredible battles over the years, and I’ve always appreciated the intensity and sportsmanship you’ve brought to every one of those moments.

 

You were one of the first drivers I looked up to when I entered Formula One. The way you carried yourself during your time at Renault, your two World Championships, and your relentless pursuit of success have been an inspiration. Through all the highs and lows in your career, you’ve shown what it means to never give up and always strive for greatness. The legacy you’re building is one that will continue to inspire future generations of drivers.

 

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for the incredible racing we’ve shared. Our rivalry has always pushed both of us to be better, and it has created some of the most memorable moments in F1 history. Whether it was fighting for the championship, battling wheel-to-wheel, or simply sharing our love for the sport, I’ve always appreciated your respect on and off the track. You’ve made me a better driver, and for that, I’m grateful.

 

To the fans: thank you for your unwavering support over the years. Your passion for the sport has always been the lifeblood of Formula One. Whether you’ve followed my career, cheered for Fernando, or simply supported the sport as a whole, your energy is what makes this journey so special. Formula One wouldn’t be what it is without you—the moments of celebration, the drama, the highs, and the lows are all experienced together with you. You are the heart of the sport, and I’m forever grateful for the way you’ve embraced me, Fernando, and every driver who has ever graced the track.

From the engineers, mechanics, and team members to the race officials and media, every individual involved plays a part in creating the spectacle that is Formula One.
