Joe Gelhardt’s already challenging season at Leeds United has just gotten much worse after Daniel Farke revealed during Wednesday’s press conference that he might require surgery for a hand injury.

For the past three games, the 21-year-old has not been included in our matchday roster. Currently healthy, Patrick Bamford is warming up the bench behind Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe. Mateo Joseph is also having difficulty.

It follows having participated in all four of our League games thus far, even starting the ones against Birmingham and West Brom. Gelhardt did not play a minute in the 3-0 victory over Millwall since his late appearance.

It’s getting worse for him this season. Farke has confirmed that Gelhardt, who was out on loan at Sunderland for the second half of the previous season, sustained a hand injury during training, according to the team’s YouTube channel.

Joe Gelhardt received bad news: he broke his hand while training. We’re waiting on additional evaluation. Will be absent for a minimum of two weeks. Further evaluation and surgery may be necessary. will take place over the coming days.

Daniel Farke: Joe Gelhardt, a striker for Leeds, might require hand surgery
Gelhardt is an incredible talent, but he needs a platform to demonstrate it because his self-confidence is probably waning. He doesn’t really need to go back to the 21st century. In January, Gelhardt must go out on loan.

Possibly a loan to a different Championship team through the end of the current campaign. However, we now need to exercise caution when it comes to that. Long-term, Leeds may suffer if a direct competitor gains strength.

He does, however, need to move, and it might be best to sign with a team that is just outside the playoff picture. Gelhardt is expected to miss the two games leading up to the November break, beginning on Friday at Leicester.
