Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé was forced to leave the field during France’s victory over Azerbaijan with the same ankle injury he picked up last weekend against Villarreal. Mbappé completed a brilliant performance for his country but had to be taken off the field in the 80th minute.
The French striker had been questionable heading into this game and he had not completed a training session with France since the FIFA break started. With Real Madrid set to face Getafe, Juventus and FC Barcelona in a crucial three-game stretch immediately after the break, Mbappé’s ankle injury could be problematic, although it seems that he should be ready to at least play El Clásico.
Either way, it looks like the coaching and medical staffs will need to monitor Mbappé’s status very closely so that he can be fresh and ready to lead the team’s offense when Los Blancos face those teams.
