Alynah Torres maintains the OU softball streak by winning Big 12 Player of the Week.

The Oklahoma softball players just continue to pile on awards.

Oklahoma Softball utility player Alynah Torres has been named Big 12 Player of the Week following an impressive week at the plate, the conference announced Tuesday. It’s the first weekly award for the fifth-year senior in her career.

Torres produced three multi-RBI efforts alongside two multi-hit games across the week. This marks the third consecutive season that OU has earned a Big 12 Player of the Week honor in three straight weeks.

Last week, Oklahoma Softball graduate left-handed pitcher Kelly Maxwell was named both NFCA National Pitcher of the Week and Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, while senior shortstop Tiare Jennings earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors. The week before that OU’s Cydney Sanders earned the award for her outstanding play.

Torres led the league in home runs, RBIs, total bases, and slugging percentage while helping the Sooners to a 4-0 week that included a Big 12 sweep of No. 19/22 Baylor. The senior went 5-for-8 (.625) with four home runs, 10 RBIs and four runs scored while slashing .625/.700/2.125 for a 2.825 OPS. She drew a pair of walks and reached on an error as part of her terrific performance, reaching in eight of her 10 plate appearances. In the field, Torres was a perfect 14-for-14 on her chances across the second base, first base, and right field.

Torres has gone on a 19-game stretch during which she’s put together .526/.609/1.053 hitting numbers and a 1.053 OPS. She totaled six home runs, two doubles, and 17 RBIs in that span.
