The property, located just outside downtown Nashville, will undergo an extensive renovation over the coming months. The project is being developed in partnership with two local nonprofit organizations: *BridgeHope Foundation* and *YouthFirst TN*, both of which have long histories of working with underserved youth. The shelter will be named *“Mitchell House,”* honoring not just the NBA player’s contribution, but also his late grandmother, who was a social worker and a major influence in his life.
City officials and advocates for homeless youth have praised Mitchell’s investment as a game-changing gesture. “We’re seeing more young people on the streets than ever before,” said Angela Ramirez, director of YouthFirst TN. “This shelter will provide not only a roof over their heads but the tools they need to thrive.
