Nigerian troops, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local vigilantes, have successfully recaptured the military Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. The base was briefly overrun by Boko Haram insurgents on March 3, 2026, leading to casualties, with the recapture confirmed around March 11-12, 2026.

 

Key Details of the Operation:

Recapture: Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), supported by local vigilantes, cleared the insurgents from Ngoshe town and the military camp, regaining full control.

Insurgent Action: The attack, which occurred last week, resulted in the destruction of property, killing of civilians/personnel, and the abduction of residents.

Recovery and Security: During the counter-operation, troops recovered various weapons and ammunition, including 60mm mortar tubes, explosives, and machine guns, while forcing the insurgents to flee.

Broader Security Context: This operation is part of intense, coordinated actions against renewed terror attacks in Borno, with similar engagements reported in Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok.
