Marilyn Manson’s Ozzy Osbourne tribute sparks backlash: ‘Piece of s—‘

Marilyn Manson made a short, virtual appearance at what was advertised as Ozzy Osbourne’s final show with Black Sabbath. It received outsized notice from the crowd, who promptly booed the former and took to social media.

 

While Manson didn’t attend the 10-hours-long Back to the Beginning event in person, he said in a video message that played between sets by Metallica, Alice in Chains, and other artists that he was honored to be part of it. Manson noted that he’d been fortunate enough to have performed with Black Sabbath.,”It is a great honor to be here via this video,” he told the crowd at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, “and I’d like to say congratulations, and I love you very much, Ozzy.”Some audience members boo and jeer at “The Beautiful People” rocker born Brian Warner, as shown in video posted on Online, some posts referred to Manson having been accused of sexual assault and abuse by multiple women, including his former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood and actress Esmé Bianco.

 

One user called Manson a “piece of s—” in a post to the livestream, which is no longer available, The Independent reported. Another added, “Marilyn Manson on the Black Sabbath stream f— off.” There was also, “ew marilyn manson go away.”

 

In January, four years after it began investigating the allegations against Manson, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that it would not bring criminal charges. The office said in a statement that, as far as the domestic violence allegations, the statute of limitations had run out. Prosecutors also said they didn’t think they could prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt.Manson, 56, had long denied the accusations against him and called them “horrible distortions of reality.” He filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood in March 2022. In November, he dropped it and agreed to pay her legal fees.
