Netflix set to release a documentary about the Legendary Career of Nikki Sixx”We are happy to announce that we are done with production and it will be released on…

Netflix has officially wrapped production on a new documentary chronicling the life and career of rock legend Nikki Sixx. The streaming giant confirmed on Friday that the highly anticipated film is set to premiere on **June 28, 2025**, giving fans an inside look into the chaotic, creative, and captivating world of the Mötley Crüe bassist and songwriter.

“We are happy to announce that we are done with production and it will be released on June 28,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a press release. “This documentary is a deep dive into the rise, fall, and redemption of one of rock music’s most iconic figures.”

**A Rock ‘n’ Roll Journey Like No Other**

Best known as the founding member and primary songwriter of Mötley Crüe, Nikki Sixx has lived a life that reads like a Hollywood script—complete with excess, near-death experiences, chart-topping hits, and eventual rebirth. The documentary, currently titled *”Sixx: The Untold Story”*, will explore his turbulent upbringing, battle with addiction, creative drive, and the legacy he continues to build today.

The film promises rare archival footage, behind-the-scenes stories, and new interviews with Sixx himself, as well as contributions from bandmates, family members, and notable figures from the rock music world.

**From Heroin Diaries to Hero’s Journey**

At the heart of the documentary is Sixx’s incredible transformation—from a self-destructive rock star battling demons, to a clean, sober, and focused artist, author, and philanthropist. The filmmakers reportedly took inspiration from his best-selling memoir *The Heroin Diaries*, a brutally honest account of his addiction in the 1980s and his fight to reclaim his life.

“We wanted to go beyond the mythology,” said director Lauren Thompson. “Nikki is more than the sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll. He’s a survivor, a storyteller, and someone who’s constantly reinventing himself.”

**All Access to the Crüe**

Fans of Mötley Crüe can also expect never-before-seen footage from the band’s early days, their infamous ‘80s tours, and the inner dynamics that drove the group both creatively and personally. The documentary will shine a light on moments that even longtime fans may not have seen before—including early demo sessions, backstage moments, and candid insights into the band’s biggest triumphs and darkest periods.

Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, and Mick Mars are all featured in newly recorded interviews, sharing stories that range from hilarious to harrowing. There’s even a segment about the making of their biopic *The Dirt*, and how that film impacted Nikki’s public image and personal journey.

**More Than Music**

In recent years, Nikki Sixx has expanded far beyond his rock star persona. From founding the band Sixx:A.M. to authoring multiple bestsellers and launching a photography career, he’s shown a creative resilience that resonates far beyond music. The documentary will also explore his work in mental health advocacy and his support for at-risk youth through his charity efforts.

“Nikki is one of the most compelling figures in music because he’s always evolving,” said producer Carla Greene. “This documentary is about the music, yes—but it’s also about the man behind the eyeliner and leather.”

**What to Expect**

*“Sixx: The Untold Story”* will be available exclusively on Netflix starting June 28, 2025. It will feature a runtime of approximately 100 minutes and include a specially curated soundtrack handpicked by Sixx himself.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan of Mötley Crüe or just someone fascinated by the wild world of rock ‘n’ roll, this documentary promises to deliver a powerful, raw, and ultimately inspiring look at one man’s journey through the fire and back.
